The Mitsubishi Airbag Control Unit Class Action alleges that certain Mitsubishi vehicles are equipped with defective ZF-TRW airbag control units (ACUs) susceptible to electrical overstress, potentially causing airbag and safety feature failures during collisions.

Who Qualifies for a Payout in This Settlement?

Individuals who, as of November 1, 2024, own or lease, or previously owned or leased, the following Mitsubishi models originally sold or leased in the United States or its territories:

  • 2013-2017 Mitsubishi Lancer
  • 2013-2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
  • 2013-2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart
  • 2013-2016 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback
  • 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander

Is It Necessary to Provide Proof (or Proof of Purchase)?

Yes, when submitting a claim without a Unique ID, you may need to provide documentation proving ownership or lease of the vehicle, such as the vehicle title, registration, purchase or lease agreement, insurance documents, or other records showing your name and the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

What Amount Can I Receive from This Settleent?

Eligible claimants can receive up to $250 per Mitsubishi Class Vehicle. If multiple valid claims are submitted for the same vehicle, the original owner who purchased the vehicle new will receive 60% of the allocated funds, with the remaining 40% distributed among other valid claimants.

How Can I Submit My Claim?

Claims can be submitted online through the settlement website or by mail. To file online, visit the “File a Claim” page. If you prefer to mail your claim, download and print the necessary forms from the “Important Documents” page. Ensure your claim is submitted electronically or postmarked by May 8, 2026.
